This film shows a Pennsylvania class battleship and three aircraft carriers underway at sea. Large formations of aircraft are seen in flight. A F-4B Phantom II is seen as it performed rolls and spins. Aircraft are shown as they took off from the aircraft carrier the USS Lexington (CV-2). A torpedo plane is seen as it made a torpedo drop. Submarines are visible nested together. A torpedoman is seen as he loaded a torpedo aboard a submarine to refloat the sunken submarine the USS Sailfish (SS-192). A submarine rescue ship (ASR) is also visible. This film also depicts ships as they blew up in the Japanese attack at Pearl Harbor in 1941. Men are shown as they enlisted in the Navy and women are seen as they worked on aircraft and other machinery in factories during the war. Admiral Nimitz is shown as he decorated an enlisted man on deck during a ceremony. Ships and submarines are shown being launched at various shipyards around the country. Military personnel are also shown as they did physical training. Boats are seen as they hit the beach during an amphibious landing, followed by tracked landing vehicles (LVTs). This film shows a statue of John Paul Jones; paintings depicting battles at sea during the colonial period; a scale model of "Old Ironsides" or a similar ship; a painting of the Monitor and Merrimac battle; cadets and buildings at Annapolis; middies playing basketball and football, and doing gymnastics; and middies in blues marching past a statue of Tecumseh.
